Thesis Statement:
Bloody Sunday was a huge turning point in American History. The Democrats and Republicans fought against one another in the late 1800s over Political power. This included trying to take away African-American political rights, which lead to the Colfax Massacre in the Southern states of the U.S. This was the ending of Reconstruction.
Background Info:
Reconstruction started happening right after the Civil War had ended. Reconstruction lead to Political empowerment, voting, exerting their most political power, and also took advantage of office holding, between 1869-1901. The Reconstruction Revolution allowed for community building, so African-Americans had the chance to build thousands of churches, and hundreds of schools.
